Technical approach
	The science and technology approach is to use established principles from Structural Mechanics and Materials Science and to integrate them with new achievements in monitoring, measurement and modelling techniques. The approach is to analyse bridge types and bridge details which are critical regarding load carrying capacity, allowable speed and/or residual life. With new innovative modelling a more true picture of the actual behaviour of the bridge structure can be achieved. The result is expected to be a clear progress beyond the current state-of-the-art.   The work will be implemented through the following work packages (see below):       Fig 1 - Work Package structure and interactions
