NORUT Technology Ltd.

NORUT Technology Ltd. is a research company performing contract research for private industry and the public sector. The company, which was founded in 1991, has a highly qualified and experienced staff of 15 employees, of which 5 hold doctoral degrees.

NORUT Technology carries out applied research using laboratory experiments, field measurements or computer modelling and simulations, within the following fields:

• Materials technology
• Structural engineering
• Computational mechanics
• Cold climate technology

A major portion of the research is concerned with durability, deterioration and renewal of civil engineering infrastructure, with particular emphasis on steel bar corrosion in reinforced concrete structures and its effects on structural integrity and service life. The research spans over a variety of themes such as transport processes and deterioration mechanisms, surface coatings, cathodic protection methods, repair systems, retrofitting and strengthening using FRP composites, durability design, service life prediction models and maintenance management. A focal point for this research is the development of accurate and reliable methods for assessment of the structural performance and safety of reinforced concrete structures with corroding reinforcement.

NORUT Technology has a long-standing experience in conducting R&D projects in close collaboration with private industry (in particular SME's) and public agencies. The company is an active partner in international research projects and participates in FP5.
