Briefly about Sto

Sto is one of the leading suppliers of exterior insulation and finish systems in the world. Sto develops, manufactures and markets also paintings, plaster, acoustic-systems and concrete renovation systems. The Sto-group has over 3900 employees in the world and a turnover of appr. 650 million Euro. Sto's concentrations towards concrete products started in the middle of the 1970's, when the first concrete constructions where in need of renovation. Sto created a special department, which statement was to develop products for concrete renovation. In 1996 this department was turned into a subsidiary, StoCretec, with over 100 employees today. StoCretec belongs to the market leaders within concrete renovation and floor coating products.

 

Building with Conscience

Maintaining the value of buildings, both new and old is a continuous problem for owners, builders and investors alike. To solve these problems, Sto continuously researches and develops its products and services which are designed to improve the functionality of the building as well as offering a lasting protection against the elements. In conjunction with this functional task, StoDesign Services work to provide aesthetically pleasing creations through the use of colour and additional building factors. Sto AG's aim is to be the leader in creating ecologically sound and pleasant human environments. To achieve this, Sto cultivates close working relationships with its customers and partners who share the same ideals. Sto's aims as expressed in this mission statement are summarised in the two German words Bewusst bauen. - Building with Conscience.

 

Research & Development

Very early Sto understood the importance of carrying out its own research and development. Annually Sto invests a substantial part of the company turnover for this purpose. At present more than 100 specialists are engaged in developing new products, new machining methods, and new manufacturing techniques, testing new raw materials and optimizing the existing products. For this they have access to sophisticated technical equipment of the highest standards. This has contributed to the fact that the Sto research centre in Stühlingen is also used externally by independent material testing laboratories. Through this consistent allocation of company resources to research and development, Sto has been able to present several innovations, of which many have become the standards within the industry.
