Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI)
SGI was founded in 1944 as a governmental institute, and is a centre of excellence in Sweden. SGI produces knowledge and methods by basic and applied research, development activities and demonstration and disseminates the results by guide lines, conferences etc.,. The activities are based on the needs of the society and the industry. SGI provides a link between the university research and the practical application. SGI also performs expert advisory services for roads, railways, foundations, landslides, contaminated land, alternative materials, risk assessment regarding geotechnical and environmental risks and geotechnical planning. SGI has a high-qualified laboratory accredited by the Swedish Board for Technical Accreditation according to EN 45001.
